Marissa Baker
Marissa, a proud native of Stuart, Florida, is deeply committed to her community and the well-being of its members. She began her educational journey by dual enrolling at Clark Advanced Learning Center, where she earned her associate’s degree before continuing her studies at Indian River State College, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in human services with a focus on addictions.
Throughout her career, Marissa has been dedicated to serving others, particularly vulnerable and underserved populations. She has gained invaluable experience working with the Martin County School District and in the non-profit sector, where she served as an advocate for survivors of domestic violence and as a youth prevention specialist. Marissa’s passion lies in advocating for the safety, empowerment, and dignity of youth, particularly those who face challenges in accessing resources and support.
Her work reflects her core values of empathy, social justice, and commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families in need. Marissa’s career is a testament to her dedication to fostering positive change and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances.
Working at the YMCA is a full-circle moment for Marissa, as she herself attended VPK, after-school programs, and summer camp at the Y. It is a place that helped shape her own childhood, and now, as a dedicated professional, Marissa can give back to the community that supported her growth.
This opportunity represents everything Marissa has ever wanted in her career—combining her passion for youth development, community service, and advocacy. Marissa’s work at the YMCA is more than just a job; it’s a reflection of her commitment to ensuring the same opportunities and experiences she had are available to the next generation of young people in her community. Her journey is a reminder of the power of community support and how one’s past can inspire a future of service and positive impact.
