Edilia Colon
Edilia Colon was born in Venezuela and has lived in the United States for the past 25 years. She has been a pastor’s wife for 23 years and is the proud mother of four adult children, grandmother to four grandchildren, and caregiver to two cats.
She is a breast cancer survivor whose faith and life journey have strongly influenced her commitment to service, compassion, and perseverance.
Edilia brings more than 30 years of experience in education and social services. She began her career in 1995 in Venezuela, with professional roles that include ESOL teacher, criminology investigator, lead teacher, child care director, Early Head Start and Head Start director, Head Start program manager, Family and Community Engagement manager, and ERSEA Quality Program Manager. While living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she worked extensively within Head Start systems, and most recently served as a Child Care Director in South Stuart, Florida.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, 30 college credits in Early Childhood Education, and a Florida Director Credential. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
Edilia has dedicated her life to improving and maintaining high-quality early childhood programs while supporting the teachers, children, and families they serve. She is honored to serve as the new Director of the Teddy Bear Preschool program.
In her free time, Edilia enjoys gardening, camping, painting, and traveling.
