Gabriel Thompson
Gabriel has a long history with Aquatics at the YMCA! His journey began when he learned how to swim as a child at the South Oakland YMCA in Royal Oak Michigan. He later joined the YPAC swim team at South Oakland and swam there until 2012. He then swam with the Neptune Aquatics Club based out of his high school until 2015. After high school, he worked at Red Oaks Waterpark from 2015-2019, and then returned to the South Oakland YMCA in 2016 until he transferred to the North Oakland YMCA in 2019 where he was awarded the Jeff Ellis and Associates Golden Guard award, which is awarded to less than 1% of lifeguards worldwide!
In 2020, Gabriel graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology from Oakland University in Rochester and started working as an Aquatics Director for YMCA Detroit. In 2022, he moved to Massachusetts and became Aquatics Director of the Stoughton YMCA and then he moved to Stuart, Florida in 2024 to continue his passion as our Association Aquatics Director.
